My Review Policy

Dear fantasy and sci-fi authors! I'm ready to dive into your worlds, but fair warning: I'm a mood reader who savors every page.

About Me

Hey there, I'm Boe, the founder of SFF Insiders.

Personal Update

I thought I would take a minute to explain my previous tweet as well as why I'm stepping away for a bit.

SFF Insiders

What originally started off as a discord community built by 4 friends with a burning passion for reading, has now slowly but surely turned into a platform where fellow bibliophiles can ramble about all things bookish. Initially launched in June 2023, this community strives to connect authors (both indie and traditional alike), to readers, bloggers, reviewers, and book lovers from all across the globe. Step into a place where readers can connect with other readers and get lost in a never-ending conversation about their favorite pieces of literature; a place where bloggers and reviewers can voice their opinions and share their reading journeys and experiences with the world; a place where authors can interact with their fellow counterparts, and open up a new chapter in their writing careers by launching their works out in the open...So, dear book lover... Yes, you. What are you waiting for? You could be someone just starting out on their very-first fantasy adventure, or someone diving into a brand-new sci-fi world, or even a scaredy-cat looking for even more spooks! Be it an amateur, or a professional; be it a debutant, or a seasoned veteran; be it a new blogger on the block, or an individual who has their way with words... this community has a place for each and every one of you! So come join us in this wonderful journey of spreading the joy of reading and writing... together!

My Review Policy

Dear fantasy and sci-fi authors! I'm ready to dive into your worlds, but fair warning: I'm a mood reader who savors every page. Here's how my review process works:

  • I read at my own pace, which can take a few days to a few weeks. No deadlines here, just pure bookish bliss! I believe every story deserves my full attention, without the pressure of a ticking clock.

  • Physical copies get priority, but I'm a true bookworm at heart and always happy to cozy up with an eBook too! I strive to strike a balance between the tactile joy of physical editions and the convenience of digital formats.

  • Every book I accept gets my full attention, and I'll share my reading journey on social media. Whether it's the satisfying feel of turning a page or the late-night glow of my Kindle, I'll immerse myself in your world.

  • Honesty is my policy, so if I can't finish a book, I'll reach out to you directly to explain why. Open communication is key, and I believe feedback, whether positive or constructive, can be valuable for every author.

  • I mix in personal reads to keep the spark alive, but your book could be my next great escape! I believe in the power of serendipitous discoveries alongside curated selections, so your work might just be the next one I reach for.

  • I'll do my best to respond within a week to let you know if I can accept your request. Thank you for your understanding

Personal Update

I want to start off by saying thank you to everyone who has reached out in the past couple of days. Your kindness has not gone unnoticed. This month has been extremely rough on my family, which is why I’m going to be taking a step back for a while. Some of you already know my backstory, but for those who don't, I lost my mother on July 3, 2021. That loss led me to the book community as I was searching for something, anything really, that could allow me to escape the emotions and despair I was drowning in. I desperately needed to come up for air, if only for a moment, so I could figure out how to move on.As someone who is both on the spectrum and has ADHD, my mind runs a million miles a minute at all times. This makes it extremely hard to shut off feelings, especially the ones you're not ready to process when your mind keeps racing back to them.It was suggested that I give reading a shot as a way to escape my emotions. Reading has always been a struggle for me and takes a lot of mental focus and control (I envy those of you who can read anywhere and everywhere) as the smallest things can pull me right back out of it. Thankfully, I was able to create an environment at home where I could read in total peace and quiet. In doing so, I found the escape I needed to grieve at a pace I was comfortable with.Fast forward three years, and now my father has started showing signs that something is off. He's a very stubborn man who hates going to the doctor, so there were most likely signs earlier in the year of what was to come. The symptoms progressed and became severe enough that he finally took action. While we still don't know the full extent of what he has or how serious it is, we are hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. We honestly won't know our next steps, if there are any, until his next appointment at the end of the month. As you can imagine, this is stirring up a whirlwind of emotions for my father, my siblings, and myself. So why am I sharing this? Because as a result of all this, I will be taking a step back. You may see me engage here and there as time allows during the workday since I will already be in front of a computer. However, outside of that, I will be offline. The team at SFFI will hold things down in my absence and will get ahold of me as needed. To the authors to whom I still owe a review, this will definitely delay that even more. However, I will fulfill every obligation, as that is in my nature. Right now, I need to focus on my family and their needs before the needs of a hobby. I hope this is something you all can understand.
